Job summary

LaneStaffing, Inc. is seeking dependable Refuse Collectors to support City of Laredo solid waste collection operations. This on-site, outdoor role involves residential garbage collection, operating collection equipment, and ensuring safety and efficiency on assigned routes.

The position requires physical stamina and ability to work in a demanding outdoor environment, with emphasis on safety and teamwork with City personnel.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic machinery and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of workplace and equipment safety practices.
• Knowledge of basic tractor operation.
• Knowledge of proper refuse collection and disposal procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collect residential garbage along assigned routes.
• Empty refuse containers into the compactor of a garbage truck.
• Operate hydraulic levers and related equipment on the collection vehicle.
• Inspect carts and containers for dirt, iron, wood, rocks, or other materials.
• Check sidewalks, curbs, and collection areas to ensure removal of trash and debris.
• Lift and move refuse, assist with street maintenance.
• Follow safety procedures around vehicles and equipment.
• Communicate with supervisors and City staff.
• Drive City vehicle for authorized City business as needed.
