Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a CDL‑licensed truck operator to manage refuse collection routes, ensure safety, and support two collectors. You will drive a rear loader, perform daily inspections, and maintain logs for 311 requests and recycling collections. Strong attention to safety and route planning is essential.

Two years of truck driving experience and a valid Texas CDL (A or B) are required; bilingual ability in English/Spanish is a plus. Background check and drug testing are part of the process.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of truck driving experience.
• Valid Texas CDL (Class A or B) with a satisfactory MVR.
• If holding an out-of-state license, obtain Texas license within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate rear loading truck on refuse routes and back to landfill.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections daily.
• Safely drive in varied weather to designated routes from landfill to dump site.
• Instruct and supervise Refuse Collectors on route safety procedures.
