Job summary

City of Laredo seeks a dependable Heavy Equipment Operator to move residential and commercial garbage within the landfill according to the site plan. The role requires operating multiple heavy machines on a designated route with safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience, a valid Texas CDL, and the ability to communicate in English (and Spanish as needed). The position includes routine vehicle operation for city business, adherence to safety policies, and

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of experience operating heavy equipment.
• Valid Texas CDL class A or B license.
• Background check and certified transcripts required for all applicants.
• Drug and alcohol testing & safety policy apply to all selected employees.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment (compactor, grader, dozer, etc.) safely and proficiently for waste disposal.
• Operate mechanical side-loading packer truck for solid waste collection.
• Use hydraulic arms to lift and compact refuse into the truck.
• Identify and report improper equipment performance and adjust operations as needed.
• Drive City vehicle for City business use.
• Perform related duties as required.
