Job description

Urban Outfitters is seeking a Senior Director of eCommerce who will be responsible for leading the development, execution, and continuous optimization of the organization's eCommerce strategy. This individual will oversee all online retail operations, including product assortment, site merchandising, user experience, SEO strategy and technology. The Senior Director will drive the vision for an innovative and effective digital commerce experience, fostering growth in revenue and customer engagement. This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership ability to manage teams across various functions.

Role Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership :
  • Develop and implement the long-term eCommerce strategy to meet business objectives and drive growth.
  • Oversee market analysis and industry trends to guide eCommerce innovation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define user experiences and technical product roadmap, pricing that align with business goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing eCommerce team, including managers across site experience, site merchandising, product, content and personalization.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the team and across departments.
  • Develop team members through training, performance management, and career development plans.
  • eCommerce Operations :
  • Oversee daily eCommerce operations, ensuring seamless execution of product launches, site updates, and marketing initiatives.
  • Monitor and optimize website performance, user experience (UX), and conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Ensure the effective integration and coordination of eCommerce platforms, back-end systems, inventory management.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration :
  • Work with marketing, merchandising, planning and operations teams to align eCommerce offerings with customer needs and business strategies.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to ensure the website and platform are scalable, secure, and optimized for user experience.
  • Own technical product roadmap in partnership with Central IT to drive UO priorities for new technical innovation and optimization
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in eCommerce and digital retail.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new tools, technologies, and platforms that enhance the eCommerce customer journey and increase operational efficiency.

Role Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in eCommerce, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience driving eCommerce growth
  • Strong knowledge of eCommerce platforms, technologies, and tools (e.g., Shopify, Magento, Salesforce, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing large, cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience using data to make decisions.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
