Position Title: Upward Bound Program Coordinator

Job Description:The Program Coordinator is responsible for implementation of a US Department of Education TRIO Upward Bound grant. Responsibilities include: Conducting activities to meet project deliverables and objectives, monitoring project progress, ensuring effective operation of program activities at partner schools, gathering data required for institutional and U.S Department of Education reports, coordinating tutoring services, monitoring grant expenditures, budget tracking and adhering to all Federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations, including Minors on Campus policies. Reports to:Upward Bound Associate Director Department:Opportunity Access Programs

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Identify and recruit first generation low-income students to meet project objectives
• Screen all new applicants for eligibility
• Assess individual participant¿s needs and implement comprehensive plans to provide academic support and monitor academic progress
• Plan cultural and educational activities for UB participants
• Coordinate workshops for UB participants
• Work and supervise summer staff
• Communicate and assist instructors and after-school program coordinators
• Supervises and approves time and effort part-time staff.
• Supervises and implements USG Minors on Campus Policies and Compliance
• Collect and compile data for program evaluation
• Help prepare for program
• Monitor program expenditures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
• Complete weekly and monthly reports
• Conduct staff evaluations
• Maintain database of student performance for reporting purposes
• Attend Federal, regional, state, and local training as needed to remain current on grant requirements.
• Complete Annual Performance Report
• Performs other duties as assigned

WORKING LOCATION & DEMANDS

• This position will be at ABAC’s main campus in Tifton, GA
• Office setting with minimal lifting or physical requirements
• Some travel in the immediate service area will be required
• Flexibility to work weekends, and /or evenings will be required
• Travel to an annual grant-related conference is required
• Must hold a current Georgia driver’s license
• This position is exempt from overtime

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Two to five years of work experience with TRiO or similar program that targets low income, first-generation populations. The work experience must be in at least three of the following areas: supervision, administration, curriculum design, program development and planning, post-secondary admission process, grant implementation, counseling, teaching, and program evaluation.
  • Basic computer literacy skills with email, Word, and EXCEL programs.
  • Demonstrated competency in self-motivation and initiative.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to supervise 5 to 10 full-time summer and part-time staff.
• Preferred Qualifications in addition to the previous list:
  • Master’s degree in Education or related field
• Experience working with Federal grants for 3-5 years
• Working knowledge of BLUMEN software

SALARY is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is 100% grant funded.
