Job summary

Morehouse College seeks a leader to oversee the federally funded TRiO Upward Bound program, guiding activities to encourage underrepresented students toward postsecondary education and improved graduation rates.

The role collaborates with school staff, counselors, community agencies and TRIO personnel to ensure program success and compliance with federal requirements, while managing staff and budgets effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus four years helping middle/high school students with college preparation.
  • At least three years supervising TRIO or similar programs serving diverse student populations.
  • Experience with grant administration and reporting.
  • Ability to adhere to federal and college policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees staff and annual delivery of services to students.
  • Supervise UB daily operations.
  • Assist in preparation of project reports for submission to the U.S. Department of Education and college administration.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate program goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with target high school staff, faculty and parents in program delivery.
  • Recruit prospective students from target schools to the program.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Meet with parents and students to develop individualized educational plans.
  • Develop, manage and monitor program budget and expenditures.
  • Coordinate marketing and public relations with the College.
  • Serve as internal and external program liaison.
  • Provide quarterly progress reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate program components using student data.
  • Attend work and events as scheduled.

Job description

Responsible for the overall design, implementation, management, planning, coordination and success of the federally funded TRiO Upward Bound program. Facilitates the development of activities and programs designed to encourage underrepresented students to overcome barriers to postsecondary education, to improve high school retention and graduation rates, and promote college degree attainment. Works with high school administrators, counselors and staff, representatives of community agencies, TRIO staff and student services areas to ensure the success of the program.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social services or related field plus four (4) years of experience assisting middle and high school students with college preparation or working with youth programs, with at least three (3) years of experience supervising TRIO or related programs consisting of a student population with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

6. Knowledge of youthful behavior and culture.
7. Knowledge of multi-cultural differences and challenges and ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures.
8. Knowledge of budget management

Physical Demands
