Job summary

RT Specialty, LLC in Houston, TX is seeking an Associate Energy Underwriter to support underwriting of upstream Oil & Gas accounts. You will review policy information, assist with pricing, and coordinate with brokers and clients to ensure accurate data and timely submissions.

This entry-level role favors candidates with analytical skills and a drive to learn about energy underwriting. Bachelor's degree preferred, six months of Property & Casualty or commercial insurance experience is a plus;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
• Six months or more of Property & Casualty or commercial insurance experience is preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support underwriting of new and renewal upstream Oil & Gas accounts by reviewing policy information for accuracy and pricing.
• Respond to broker and client inquiries regarding Energy insurance products and coverage considerations.
• Coordinate with brokers, agents, and insureds to gather underwriting information and facilitate smooth processes.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain underwriting documentation including submissions, quotes, binders, endorsements, and policy issuance materials.
• Review applications to identify risk exposures and assist in evaluating coverage eligibility.
• Assist with premium and rating calculations using established guidelines and pricing methodologies.
• Analyze upstream Oil & Gas operations, loss history, and exposure information to support decisions.
• Maintain accurate underwriting files and generate reports on submissions, renewals, production activity, and portfolio performance.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and ensuring records are complete and compliant.
• Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, carrier standards, and compliance procedures.
• Collaborate with underwriting, operations, claims, and other teams to provide timely service to brokers and clients.
• Serve as a key point of contact for brokers and agents, delivering excellent customer service.
• Participate in training to build technical underwriting knowledge in upstream Energy.
