Job summary

La-Z-Boy Incorporated in Dayton, TN is seeking a hardworking upholstery assembler to hand-build quality upholstered furniture. This is a physically demanding role requiring standing up to 10 hours per day, lifting at least 50 lbs, and using power tools, framing, and staple guns to complete components.

You will rotate through cells, perform duties as needed, follow KanBan workflow, and contribute to a fast-paced team environment.

Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the above duties.
• Basic reading and writing skills.
• Completion of in-house training curriculum.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong coordination for routine, repetitive tasks.
• Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day with frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
• Capacity to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team atmosphere.
• Perform any position within the cell as needed.
• Proper use of Kan Ban containers.
• Upholster: knock down sharp corners, staple materials, assemble components per specifications.
• Frame: staple materials, apply glue, and assemble components.
• Cushion Process: insert stuffing, seal and quilt, use staple gun.
• Final Assembly: assemble components into completed unit, oil mechanisms, ensure unit readiness.
• Packaging: staple materials, secure packaging, move unit as required.
