Job summary

State of North Carolina - State Treasurer seeks an Accounting Technician III to manage Escheat fund accounting, deposits, reconciliations and general ledger tasks. The role works with UPD, SLGFD and other agencies and reports to the statewide accounting manager in the Financial Operations Division.

Some on-site work may be required in crisis situations. The position requires two years of accounting experience and an associate degree in Accounting or equivalent education, with hybrid telework

Responsibilities

• Receive, certify and record daily deposits for the Unclaimed Property Division.
• Process and print Unclaimed Property Division claimant checks and record activity in NCFS.
• Perform month-end close-out including balancing of accounts and bank reconciliation for the UPD fund.
• Prepare monthly and annual reporting for the UPD fund including the ACFR portion.
• Prepare the Forecast document containing financial results and the Escheats Collections worksheet.

This position works closely with Unclaimed Property (UPD), State and Local Government Financial Division (SLGFD), external State agencies such as Register of Deeds and DOT, as well as other divisions in the State Treasurer Department and Office of State Controller. This position reports to the Statewide Accounting Manager in the Financial Operations Division.Duties in this position are considered essential to operations for the Department of State Treasurer. This may require mandatory, on site work during adverse or crisis situations. Essential duties are a condition of continued employment.
