Job summary

InvestedintheMission in Petaluma, CA seeks an Engineering Development Technician III to work on advanced unmanned systems, contributing to development, build, integration, and maintenance. This role emphasizes hands-on fabrication and rapid prototyping across mechanical, electrical, and composite domains.

The candidate should have 5+ years in machining, composites, rapid prototyping and electronics, with strong documentation skills and a willingness to travel for field tests.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or technical certificate.
• 5+ years of technical experience in machining, composites, rapid prototyping and electronics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• Familiarity with aircraft and/or Remote Control (R/C) experience.
• Strong knowledge of machine shop tools and fixture development.
• Experience with build/assembly documentation development.
• In-depth knowledge in Fabrication, Composites, Mechanics or Electronics.
• Willingness to travel domestically (local/field tests).
• Valid Driver's license with clean record.
• Willingness to work long hours, weekends and holidays when required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts mechanical, electrical, and composite fabrication support, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of integrated systems.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment and tools (hand tools, power tools, solder irons, lathes, mills, 3D printers).
• Meet scheduled timelines and aggressive deadlines for hardware readiness at milestones.
• Attend project meetings to discuss schedule, hardware status, and critical information.
• Document processes and build techniques for readiness and handoff.
• Build low-volume prototype assemblies for product lifecycle stages.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized lab and shop areas for efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
