Job summary

AV is seeking an Engineering Development Technician IV to contribute to a range of advanced unmanned systems, supporting development, build, integration, and maintenance. The role emphasizes hands-on fabrication, rapid prototyping, and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities include operating shop equipment, mentoring teammates on safe practices, and delivering hardware on aggressive timelines for project milestones, while ensuring documentation and compliance with safety

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or technical school cert.
• 12+ years of technical experience in machining, composites, rapid prototyping and electronics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• Familiarity with aircraft and/or RC experience.
• Expert use of machine shop tools with proficiency in fabrication fields.
• Experience building fixtures, tools and parts or electrical devices.
• Strong documentation and build/assembly knowledge.
• Two specialty areas: fabrication, composites, mechanics or electronics.
• SolidWorks/SURFCAM knowledge desired.
• Adherence to safety guidelines and ability to travel domestically.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical, electrical, and composite fabrication support, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of integrated systems.
• Operate and maintain shop equipment and track projects, materials, and ROI.
• Instruct and train team members on safe, effective use of shop equipment.
• Provide rapid prototyping fabrication and assembly for prototype hardware.
• Meet timelines and milestones to have hardware ready for project milestones.
• Plan rapid prototyping activities to support product development goals.
• Document important processes and build techniques for equipment readiness.
• Lead technician support to engineering projects.
• Fabricate development test fixtures, tools or molds.
• Provide design feedback to improve performance, manufacturability, safety and cost.
• Ensure lab and shop areas are safe, clean, and organized.
