Job summary

Colorado State University is seeking a Fleet Management professional who leads a team of 20 across two maintenance facilities and a customer service office. The role drives planning, budgeting, and optimization of fleet operations in alignment with university objectives under the Director of Active Transportation.

The position oversees vehicle purchases, leasing, rentals, and fleet utilization while supervising staff and coordinating with departments for mission support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5+ years of progressive fleet management experience.
• Experience using fleet management software.
• At least 5 years of service/support experience to stakeholders.
• Experience with ERP systems (Kuali or similar).
• 4+ years of staff supervision.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
• Experience developing budgets and charge-out rates in transportation/fleet management.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day fleet operations for ~800 units, including purchases, leasing, rentals, and replacements.
• Oversee operational units: administration, maintenance, parts, rentals, shuttle ops, charter service.
• Manage expenditures for equipment, tools, repairs, and related needs.
• Oversee parts inventory and fleet management systems for fuel tracking, work orders, billing, reporting.
• Analyze vehicle needs and enforce fleet standards to improve efficiency and sustainability.
• Provide direction, training, coaching, and performance feedback to a customer-focused team.
• Collaborate with departments to support university mission; seek external partnerships to optimize revenue.
