Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a unit secretary to provide direct patient care and unit clerical support under the direction of a Clinical Nurse. The role helps maintain a clean and orderly environment and supports the patient care team.

You may schedule tests, maintain patient records, sign patients in and out, and handle equipment and supplies delivery. The position may require CPR and Basic Life Support certification and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CPR/BLS certification may be required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Understanding of infection control principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and unit clerical duties under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment for the patient and team.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• Schedule tests and procedures; maintain patient records; sign patients in and out of the unit.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
