Job summary

IU Health in Fishers, IN seeks a compassionate Unit Secretary/Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and handle on-unit clerical duties under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse.

You will help schedule tests, maintain patient records, sign patients in and out, and support the patient care team while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and adherence to infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of medical terminology beneficial.
• Knowledge of infection control principles required.

Responsibilities

• Provides a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties.
• Delivers care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team.
• Maintains a clean and orderly patient environment and assists with information for physicians, patients, families and vendors.
• May schedule tests/procedures, maintain patient records and sign patients in/out of the unit.
• May be responsible for ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies and may provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
