Job summary

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology and infection control, and may require CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR/BLS may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Prior acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of infection control and patient care procedures.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical tasks and maintain patient records.
• Schedule tests and procedures as needed.
• Assist with signing patients in and out of the unit.
• Order, receive and deliver equipment and supplies for the patient care team.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families, customers and vendors.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
