Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a full-time Night shift unit secretary who provides a blend of direct patient care and clerical support. Under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse, you will help maintain a safe, organized environment and assist patients, families, physicians and staff with information and directions.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and CPR/BLS certifications or training eligibility, along with prior acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR may be required to complete Unit Secretary training.
• Requires prior acute patient care experience or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification or attainment after training.
• Requires basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles.
• Requires basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerk duties and maintain patient records.
• Schedule tests and procedures and sign patients in and out.
• Order, receive and deliver equipment and supplies for the team.
• Provide information and directions to physicians, patients, families and vendors.
• Provide continuous observation including suicide prevention when required.
