Dartmouth Health is seeking a Unit Support Assistant for our Pediatric Inpatient team in Lebanon, NH. You will help keep the unit organized, prepare and reset rooms for admissions and discharges, maintain supplies and equipment, and support a range of administrative needs.

  • Must be proficient in computer skills and customer service.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • High school diploma (or GED) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the interdisciplinary team in providing a well-supplied, safe, and clean inpatient unit that meets regulatory standards.
  • Acts as front line representative of unit. Interacts with families and visitors; answers calls and coordinates with other departments.
  • Coordinates with the Unit leader to meet regulatory, safety, and infection prevention standards; maintains environment of care.
  • Ensures the unit is well supplied and equipment is available and working.
  • Utilizes systems to document patient status and flow; maintains chart information in HIP and HIS requirements.
  • Accesses secure medication locations to manage storage, handling, beyond use dating, and disposal per policy.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Overview

Join our Pediatric Inpatient team as a Unit Support Assistant and help create a welcoming, organized, and well-supported environment for our patients, families, and clinical team.

In this role, you'll help keep the unit running smoothly by preparing and resetting patient rooms for admissions and discharges, maintaining supplies and equipment, and supporting a variety of administrative needs. You'll also serve as the unit's welcoming face for patients and families while assisting with bed management, scheduling, admissions, and throughput.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the infant security system, maintaining unit cleanliness and readiness, and helping the team stay on top of important operational and regulatory requirements, including point-of-care testing, lab due dates, nurse fit testing, and compliance tracking.

This is a FT 40hr/week role. The schedule is M-F, and nights. The midnight hour is essential for coverage, but there is some flexibility in the shift being 6p-2a, 5p-1a, or 7p-3a.

Responsibilities

Assists the interdisciplinary team in providing a well-supplied, safe, and clean inpatient unit that meets regulatory standards.

  1. Acts as front line representative of unit. Interacts with families and visitors in the unit. Answers telephone calls and assists in the overall functioning of the unit. Communicates with other departments as needed.
  2. Coordinates with the Unit leader to ensure the unit meets regulatory, safety, and infection prevention standards, monitors and intervenes as necessary to maintain environment of care standards.
  3. Ensures the unit is well supplied and equipment is available and working.
  4. Utilizes support systems and resources to document patient status and flow.
  5. Maintains chart information that is up-to-date, organized, and in compliance with Health Information Services (HIS) requirements.
  6. Accesses secure medication locations limited to receiving and floor stock storage areas in order to manage the storage, handling, beyond use dating, and disposal of medications consistent with the Medication Storage and Handling Policy.
  7. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
