Job summary

HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital is seeking a Unit Secretary to support patient flow and communications on a PRN basis. You will greet patients, manage records, and coordinate with care teams to ensure smooth unit operations and a compassionate environment.

The role emphasizes accurate documentation, front-desk communication, and a proactive approach to daily tasks, contributing to a safe, organized, and patient-centered setting within a new hospital opening in Spring 2026.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 6 months related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and guiding patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism, offering updates, and ensuring they feel informed and supported
  • Maintaining patient records accurately, entering physician orders, and protecting patient information
  • Handling all communications between incoming calls and care team members promptly and clearly to keep the unit connected
  • Keeping the environment clean, organized, and well-stocked to promote safety and comfort
  • Taking initiative to solve challenges, support daily operations, and foster a culture of respect and teamwork
