Job summary

Encompass Health in Fitchburg, WI is hiring a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit with vital clerical tasks and help deliver seamless patient care in a community‑focused environment. In this role, you will maintain complete medical records, transcribe orders, coordinate tests and transportation, and act as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff, and visitors at the nursing station.

CPR certification is preferred; one year of inpatient unit secretary experience is preferred;

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments, and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
