Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit, ensuring smooth patient care and a friendly, patient-focused environment. You will manage medical records, transcribe orders, and assist staff, patients, and families at the nursing station.

Ideal candidates have CPR certification (preferred), inpatient unit secretary experience (preferred), and familiarity with medical terminology; enrollment in a healthcare program is a plus.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year of inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing) is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and experience reading/transcribing orders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately/transcribe medical orders and distribute to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
