Physicians Regional Medical Center in Naples, FL is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the patient care team by handling clerical tasks, EMR documentation, and patient coordination on the day shift. This role requires basic medical terminology knowledge and strong attention to detail.

The unit secretary will greet patients, manage communications, maintain charts, and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring confidentiality and smooth unit operations.

Qualifications

• Completion of Unit Secretary or Medical Terminology course preferred.
• 0-2 years receptionist or secretarial training required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.
• Ability to handle confidential patient information per HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enters orders into the computer system with minimal shortages.
• Answers phones, manages patient records, schedules appointments, and documents in EMR.
• Maintains patient charts and ensures labs, consults, and reports are retrieved and distributed promptly.
• Notifies physicians of consult procedures and assists with labs and patient lists.
• Prioritizes tasks and handles STAT orders and urgent needs immediately.
• Greets and assists patients, coordinates admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient requests.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains reliable attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
