Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Unit Manager / Infection Control Nurse for a long-term care facility in Catonsville, MD. The role leads nursing operations on a unit, ensuring high-quality resident care and strict infection prevention practices.

You will supervise RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other staff, collaborate with physicians and leadership, and educate teams on infection control while monitoring care plans and documentation. This on-site role offers strong growth opportunities and a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily nursing operations and resident care within an assigned unit.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and clinical support to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other nursing staff.
• Monitor resident conditions, care plans, clinical documentation, and changes in care needs.
• Assist with staffing, assignments, and ensuring appropriate coverage for the unit.
• Participate in orientation, training, coaching, and development of nursing staff.
• Serve as a clinical resource for staff and address resident care concerns.
• Collaborate with physicians, providers, nursing leadership, and the interdisciplinary care team.
• Implement and monitor infection prevention and control program.
• Conduct infection surveillance and track trends of infections.
• Monitor compliance with infection prevention practices (hand hygiene, PPE, isolation).
• Educate staff on infection prevention policies and current best practices.
• Assist with outbreak prevention, investigation, response, documentation, and reporting.
• Support antibiotic stewardship and infection-related documentation.
• Ensure infection prevention practices meet regulatory requirements.
• Participate in QA, performance improvement, audits, and surveys.
• Promote resident safety, clinical excellence, accountability, and teamwork.

Job Details

The Unit Manager / Infection Control Nurse will oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit while helping maintain a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This individual will work closely with nursing leadership and the interdisciplinary team to promote quality resident care, regulatory compliance, and effective infection prevention practices.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license in the applicable state or ability to obtain
• Previous nursing experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, rehabilitation, or a similar healthcare setting
• Nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Experience with infection prevention and control preferred
• Knowledge of infection surveillance, isolation precautions, and regulatory requirements
• Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities
• Ability to educate and support clinical staff while maintaining accountability for quality standards
• Commitment to providing compassionate, resident‑centered care
