Job summary

St. Joseph's Center in Scranton, PA is seeking a per diem Unit Manager for our residential program on the Main Campus. You will guide a team of Direct Support Professionals to ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and person-centered care.

As a Unit Manager, you will supervise staff, train on care plans, help with hiring, and coordinate with nursing and administration. This role requires strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
• 1 year as DSP, CNA, or similar role.
• Valid PA driver’s license.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 10–50 lbs. and assist with transfers.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support direct care staff in your assigned area.
• Train staff on care plans, goals, and daily routines.
• Make sure residents’ Individual Plans are followed.
• Help with personal care needs when needed (feeding, changing, positioning).
• Keep the unit safe and organized; report any issues to leadership.
• Hold staff meetings and share updates from administration.
• Work with the team to solve problems and improve care.
• Report medical concerns to nursing staff quickly.
• Assist with hiring and training new staff.
• Attend required meetings and training sessions.
