Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Unit Clerk Nurse Aide for the 2 W Progressive Care Unit in Michigan. The role supports RNs by performing receptionist and patient care tasks during nights (6:30 pm–7:00 am), ensuring patient privacy and safety on the unit.

Responsibilities include hourly rounding, answering calls, assisting with patient care such as baths, dressing, feeding, and vital signs under supervision. Requires CNA credential or completion of NA training, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Nurse Aide training or 6 months CNA experience.
• BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of keyboard/computer and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with patient safety and privacy protocols.

Responsibilities

• Performs hourly rounding including pain, position, personal needs, and possessions.
• Answers calls promptly and relays information to staff.
• Assists nursing staff with patient care, beds, hygiene, feeding, and vital signs per RN.

Unit Clerk Nurse Aide - 2 W Progressive Care Unit

Daily Work Times:6:30 pm - 7:00 am
Shift: Nights
Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 72

Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit assigned and meets the communication needs of the patient (family, departmental staff and medical staff). Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient’s rights.

Responsibilities:

• Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions
• Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relaying pertinent information to the appropriate staff
• Assists nursing staff with patient care by making patient beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate Intake & Output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, performing bedside glucose testing and obtaining vital signs and any other duties assigned by the RN

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program, or 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a Healthcare facility, or completion of fundamentals if enrolled in an Accredited School of Nursing program
• BLS Certification
• Knowledge of keyboard/computer
• Medical terminology knowledge

Preferred:

• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program
• Current State of Michigan CNA certification
• Previous work experience or training as a Unit Clerk and Nurse Aide
