Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a part-time Nurse Aide to support nursing staff on the assigned unit. You will perform patient care tasks, assist with daily activities, and ensure patient comfort and safety during evening and overnight shifts.

Responsibilities include rounding, answering call lights, assisting with baths, feeding, vital signs, glucose testing, and maintaining a clean, private, and respectful environment. BLS certification is required prior to start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of Nurse Aide training program or 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a healthcare facility.
• BLS certification from recognized providers is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.
• Preferred: Michigan CNA certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions
• Promptly answers telephone/call lights and relays information to staff
• Assists nursing staff with patient care (beds, baths, feeding, oral care, I&O, mobilization, weights, glucose testing, vital signs)
• Greets patient/family on arrival and assists in transportation to/from other units
• Ensures rooms and work areas are clean and equipment properly stored

Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit assigned and meets the communication needs of the patient, family, departmental staff and medical staff. Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient’s rights.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions
• Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relaying pertinent information to the appropriate staff
• Assists nursing staff with patient care by making patient beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate Intake & Output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, performing bedside glucose testing and obtaining vital signs and any other duties assigned by the RN
• Greets patient/family upon arrival to the nursing unit and assists in the transportation of patients to and from other units and test areas
• Ensures all rooms and work areas are clean and tidy (e.g. patient rooms, clean utility, and soiled utility), IV poles, suction machines, commodes, and other equipment are cleaned and properly stored

Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program,OR 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a Healthcare facility, OR completion of fundamentals of nursing, if enrolled in a Nursing program
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American ed Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date
