Job summary

UAB Medicine's Emergency Department in Trussville, AL is seeking a full-time administrative professional to support patient care operations during the night shift. You will greet patients, answer calls, schedule appointments, maintain charts, and coordinate meetings.

The role emphasizes teamwork with physicians and staff, timekeeping, and processing orders and discharges. A high school diploma or equivalent and relevant clerical experience are required; BLS is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
