Job summary

UAB Medicine in Oneonta, AL is seeking an administrative assistant to support a clinical area with clerical duties in the evenings and weekend coverage. You will greet patients, answer calls, schedule appointments and maintain patient charts.

This role requires strong communication, basic office software skills and a HS diploma or equivalent; BLS is preferred. Work hours include Saturday and Sunday 12p-12a, with opportunities to contribute to a patient-centered team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience.
• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
