Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Human Resources Generalist in Ankeny, IA to provide full-spectrum HR support in a unionized, hourly workforce. The role emphasizes recruiting for hourly roles, onboarding, and maintaining HR records using Workday and Alchemy.

You will partner with manufacturing and operations leaders, coordinate interviews, track pre-employment steps, support labor relations, and ensure accuracy across HR systems in a fast-paced, onsite environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of HR experience in manufacturing or similar environments.
• Experience in unionized environments with labor relations and negotiations.
• Experience recruiting for hourly roles and coordinating onboarding.
• Proficiency with HRIS, preferably Workday.
• Experience onboarding and orientation of new hires.
• Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and support hiring for hourly positions, including posting roles and reviewing applicants.
• Coordinate interview schedules with candidates and hiring teams.
• Track pre-employment requirements such as drug screens and physicals.
• Assist with new hire orientations and onboarding.
• Maintain training documentation in Alchemy and other systems.
• Assist with union postings and bids and ensure timelines.
• Support overtime posting and crewing in a unionized environment.
• Direct employees to HR resources for benefits, payroll, and other inquiries.
• Provide general HR administrative support and HRIS data entry.
• Support labor relations activities and union meetings as needed.
• Use HRIS tools to input, update, and manage employee data.
