Job summary

S.E.T., Inc. is hiring Construction Laborers to join our heavy highway and civil construction crews across Ohio and Western PA. The role involves traffic control, underground utility work, concrete and asphalt tasks, and general site activities on active projects.

We offer union-scale wages under the LIUNA contract with a full fringe benefits package, plus overtime and per diem for out-of-town assignments. This is a union position supporting long-term work and safety-focused teamwork.

Qualifications

• Require 1–3 years in heavy highway, civil, or underground construction, or willingness to learn.
• Able to read grade stakes, cut sheets, and basic plan information.
• Familiarity with work zone setup and MOT standards.
• Comfort around heavy equipment and live traffic; able to work outdoors.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work as part of a crew.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain work zone traffic control and flagging operations.
• Assist with underground utility installation, concrete work, and asphalt paving.
• Perform hand excavation, grade checks, and equipment operation as assigned.
• Follow safety policies, JSAs, and toolbox talks to keep zones safe.
• Load, unload, and stage materials; maintain daily site cleanup.
