Job summary

S.E.T., Inc. is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our union crew on active roadway, bridge, and mass excavation projects in Ohio and Western PA.

You will operate excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, rollers, and related machinery, following plans, grade stakes, laser, and GPS/machine-control systems.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years operating heavy equipment on highway or civil projects.
• Ability to grade to tolerance with minimal rework.
• Strong trench safety, utility clearance, and work zone hazard awareness.
• Mechanical aptitude and care for the equipment you run.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to travel and work out of town, including out-of-state project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, dozers, graders, loaders, rollers and other production equipment.
• Grade to plans using stakes, cut sheets, laser, and GPS/3D machine control systems.
• Read plans and cross-sections; manage trenching near utilities.
• Load, spread and compact stone base and structural fill.
• Perform pre-shift inspections, fueling, and routine maintenance; report defects.
• Communicate with spotters and drivers; maintain clean staging areas.
