Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Union Chief Engineer in San Francisco to oversee operations, manage vendors, and lead preventive maintenance programs for building systems. The role emphasizes coordinating downtime with clients and ensuring systems meet design specs while maintaining prime client spaces.

The position requires 8–10 years of related experience or equivalent combination, and strong leadership, problem-solving, and MS Office skills. Strong safety and standards compliance are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 8–10 years of related experience; combination of experience and education considered.
• Must meet physical requirements including stooping, standing, walking, stairs, lifting 50+ lbs.
• Multi-dimensional, conceptual thinking to develop new solutions.
• Identify and solve complex problems using deep knowledge and experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong organizational skills and inquisitive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations, assign work orders, and train coworkers and subcontractors.
• Consult with clients to schedule preventive maintenance and downtime.
• Formulate and implement preventive maintenance programs for building systems.
• Monitor fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing to ensure design specs and environment.
• Oversee and inspect engineering staff work.
• Confirm completion and functionality of equipment and spaces.
• Respond to emergencies and mobilize additional help as needed.
• Coach others using broad knowledge of job areas to guide teams.
• Lead by example and influence decisions at senior levels.
• Drive direction and resource allocation for programs or services.
• Contribute to policy and procedure design with innovative services.
