Job summary

CBRE Union Chief Operating Engineer leads engineering operations and directs vendors and subcontractors across facilities. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, safety, and maintaining building systems to meet client specifications.

You will manage work orders, train staff, schedule downtime to minimize interruptions, monitor alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, and ensure spaces are in prime condition. A strong background with Local 399 and a stationary engineer license is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 8-10 years of job-related experience; Local 399 union membership required; Stationary Engineer License required.
• Meet the physical requirements including lifting heavy loads of 50 lbs or more.
• Multi-dimensional, conceptual, and innovative thinking to develop new solutions.

Responsibilities

• Manage operations, assign work orders, and provide technical and procedural training of coworkers and subcontractors.
• Consult with clients to schedule preventive maintenance and other downtime to cut business interruption and inconvenience.
• Formulate and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
• Monitor building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure operation within design parameters.
• Oversee and inspect the work performed by engineering staff.
• Respond to emergency situations and summon assistance as needed.
