The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg is seeking a Tax Technician for the Unemployment Compensation Tax Services. You will review employer information and wage data to help ensure accurate tax processing for Pennsylvania workers and employers.

The role involves registration reviews, wage reconciliation, and compliance tasks, along with preparing correspondence and reports. Telework is possible part-time; standard hours are 8:30 AM–4:30 PM Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Unemployment Compensation Tax Technician Trainee program or equivalent Federal Government job title.
• Two years of experience in maintaining financial records, bookkeeping, tax preparation, or clerical accounting.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Registration Review: Examine employer documents for accuracy, completeness, and required determinations.
• Wage Reconciliation: Compare reported wages with claimant statements and review exclusions and coverage rules.
• Compliance Tasks: Complete work related to liability questions, bulk sales, civil assessments, and inquiries.
• Correspondence Work: Prepare written communication and discuss information with employers or administrators.
• Report Preparation: Create weekly summaries of wage investigations and scheduled hearings.
• General Duties: Perform additional assigned tasks that support tax operations.
