Job summary

The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is transforming into a forward-thinking organization that serves Georgia’s citizens. The DOL Services Specialist Advanced role, located in Cartersville, performs interviews, job counseling, hearings, and claims processing to determine unemployment eligibility.

Under limited supervision, you will guide claimants through the process, explain procedures, and provide one-on-one assistance with the filing process, contributing to a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED and three years of job-related experience; or one year at SSP090 or equivalent.
• Associate's degree preferred for advancement and related work experience.
• Experience with unemployment services and claims processing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conducts interviews with unemployment applicants to obtain needed information.
• Performs job counseling to identify abilities, needs, and values for opportunities.
• Conducts hearings professionally and courteously.
• Performs in-depth fact-finding to determine eligibility for unemployment benefits.
• Responds to claimant questions and explains the appeal process.
• Processes claims from the universal queue and assists in-person or by phone.
