Job summary

Old Republic Excess & Surplus is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the underwriting team. The role coordinates submission intake, analyzes loss and exposure data, and maintains accurate underwriting files within the policy management system.

Responsibilities include evaluating submissions, summarizing loss information for underwriters, and tracking quotes while developing relationships with the underwriting team and brokers across the territory.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of commercial insurance experience; Excess and Surplus experience preferred.
• Strong planning and organization skills; ability to maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication skills on multiple platforms.
• Ability to multitask paired with strong time management skills.
• Must be able to make informed decisions and effectively meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail; accurate proofreading skills.
• Flexibility and tenacity; ability to work in a team environment.
• High School Degree or Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new submissions for completeness; request information as needed and communicate to assigned Underwriter and brokers within the territory (exposure, loss, and general account data, etc.)
• Analyze loss information to summarize the data for the underwriting team.
• Investigate operations of the insured (identify changes and detail the program's structure of accounts, record data points of the accounts, etc.) to execute the setup of the underwriting file documentation.
• Perform tracking of underwriter quotes, recording pertinent data, in order to develop and maintain the department’s data management system, including rate analysis, quotes, binders, and other key statistics. Maintain all active underwriting files for completeness.
• Assist with the setup and tracking of assignments/tasks for all accounts.
• Develop key relationships with the underwriting team, assigned brokers, and members of the Old Republic organization.
