Job summary

RT Specialty is seeking an Underwriting Assistant to support the binding process, input information for underwriting applications, and help issue accurate policies. You will liaise between underwriters and brokers, respond to inquiries, collect information for quoting, and provide revised quotes as needed.

The role also covers backup support for underwriters, maintaining records, and producing reports on binding metrics and compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of work experience in Insurance Industry or Binding Underwriting or related field.
• Licenses: State P&C and/or surplus lines (preferred).
• Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists the binding process to ensure accuracy and compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Administers underwriting applications to rate, document and issue accurate policies.
• Assists with new business submissions under direction from Binding Underwriter to prepare and market to carrier.
• Coordinates between Underwriters and brokers, responds to inquiries, obtains information to quote, and provides revised quotes as requested.
• Processes and issues policy endorsements and tracks cancellations, non-renewals, and renewal solicitations.
• Maintains comprehensive records of binding transactions and client information.
• Communicates with clients to collect information, explains policy terms, and addresses questions about binding.
• Executes tasks for underwriters when they are unavailable.
• Prepares reports on binding metrics, performance, and compliance.
