Old Republic Professional is seeking an Underwriting Assistant in our Downtown-Chicago office. You will support a team of underwriters, help maintain efficient underwriting workflows, and deliver exceptional service to brokers and clients.

The role enables underwriters to focus on production and quality while you assist across workflow steps and ensure compliance with state guidelines. Work is hybrid with three days in the office; the team values collaboration, accuracy, and proactive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• 1–5 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure completeness of all new submissions and obtain missing information from brokers.
• Coordinate with underwriters and brokers to communicate account status and finalize subjectivities.
• Confirm policy issuance instructions and complete coding/issuance tasks.
• Quality control for accuracy of exposure bases, limits, and coverage extensions.
• Generate broker correspondence related to processing and follow-up requests.
• Process rate premium changes for changes in premium.
• Create and maintain electronic files for accounts.
