Job Overview

The Conventional Underwriter reviews, conditions, and underwrites mortgage loans in accordance with established policies and procedures and appropriate guidelines. They examine all documentation for accuracy and completeness.

MUST HAVES

• Experience with Residential Mortgage
• Experience with US Mortgage
• Well-versed with all 4Cs of Underwriting
• Experience with Origination

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Review and analyze mortgage loan applications to ensure eligibility, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines to minimize risk.
• Review all required loan data, reports, and inspections to ensure collateral acceptability to investors and the company.
• Make independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans following HUD, company, and investor guidelines.
• Provide final approval for mortgage loan underwriting.
• Complete all required paperwork and forms accurately and promptly; prepare necessary forms.
• Sign off on conditions promptly as set by management.
• Collaborate with staff and management to resolve escalated loan issues.
• Recommend improvements for internal audit policies and practices if requested.
• Manage loans using all functions of Encompass.
• Communicate underwriting decisions effectively with processors and advisors.
• Maintain high levels of customer service and communication with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
