Job summary

MIKEL is seeking a Weapons Systems Specialist – Undersea Weapons to support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) in Newport, RI. This full-time role focuses on safety, engineering, testing, and lifecycle management of U.S.

Navy torpedo and undersea weapon systems. The ideal candidate has Navy undersea weapons experience and thrives solving technical problems with engineers, government personnel, and former military subject matter experts.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain or maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Experience operating, maintaining, testing, or supporting U.S. Navy weapons systems.
• Ability to work within a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering teams responsible for U.S. Navy torpedo and undersea weapon systems.
• Evaluate weapon system design, testing, and safety using fleet experience.
• Participate in technical reviews and working groups with Navy engineers.
• Identify potential operational hazards and recommend improvements.
• Review technical documentation and provide fleet user perspective.
• Support laboratory testing, system integration, and engineering evaluations.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and meeting materials.
• Collaborate with government engineers, former fleet operators, and system developers.
• Receive training in Navy System Safety processes (MIL-STD-882E).
• Participate in hazard tracking and safety documentation after training.
