Job summary

Line Quest is seeking a detail-oriented Locator to join our field team. The Locate Technician will identify and mark underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction projects across assigned areas.

Key responsibilities include reading maps and blueprints, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining accurate locate records. The role requires outdoor work, adherence to safety guidelines, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus.
• Experience in utility locating or construction preferred.
• Familiar with underground utility systems and locating equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground utilities such as gas, water, electric, and telecommunications lines using specialized equipment.
• Interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings to identify utility locations.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders to coordinate locating activities.
• Maintain accurate records of located utilities and provide detailed reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all locating activities.
• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.
• Respond promptly to locate requests and complete assignments within designated timeframes.
