Job summary

Line Quest is seeking a detail-oriented Locator to join our team. The Locate Technician will identify and mark underground utilities to support safe excavation and construction projects, requiring strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently outdoors across various sites.

This role emphasizes communication with contractors and stakeholders, adherence to safety guidelines, and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training a plus.
Experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with underground utility systems and locating equipment.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Locate and mark underground utilities such as gas, water, electric, and telecommunications lines using specialized equipment.
Interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings to identify utility locations.
Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and other stakeholders to coordinate locating activities.
Maintain accurate records of located utilities and provide detailed reports.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all locating activities.
Perform routine maintenance and calibration of locating equipment.
Respond promptly to locate requests and complete assignments within designated timeframes.
