Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. in Minnesota seeks an Underground Transmission Engineer to support design and construction of underground transmission projects from conceptual design through detailed design.

Responsibilities include cable-system calculations, duct banks and manholes, routes and layouts, and preparation of calculations, drawings and specifications, with coordination across clients, utilities, vendors and other disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Three or more years of relevant underground transmission experience.
• Experience with 69kV+ transmission systems.
• Ability to prepare calculations, drawings, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission systems per standards.
• Perform ampacity, grounding, and cable-pulling calculations.
• Develop routes, duct banks, manholes, and layouts.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specs, and material lists.
• Review survey, geotechnical, and vendor information.
• Coordinate with clients, utilities, vendors, and project teams.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Support project estimates, schedules, proposals, and QA/QC.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in client meetings and site visits.
