Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our Civil Division and install underground pipelines for road construction. You will report to the Pipe Foreman and coordinate layouts with the supervisor while preparing trenches and leveling bases.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of underground pipe laying experience, 2–4 years in road construction, and a proven ability to read blueprints, work safely, and meet deadlines as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–5 years of underground pipe laying experience.
• 2–4 years of road construction experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable of pipe laying techniques.
• Ability to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement or glue.
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Other general labor and construction related duties as required.
• Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program.
