Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation offers an internship for a geology student to gain hands-on experience in underground mining while supporting the geology team with routine duties and special projects.

The intern will work on development heading mapping, grade control, data collection, core logging, and collaboration with geology, mine operations, and surveying while following Kinross safety standards.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a geology-related bachelor’s program with at least two years of university coursework preferred.
• 0-2 years of geology or mining experience preferred.
• Must be able to work in the United States on a full-time basis and have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist underground geologists with development heading mapping and grade control.
• Support underground mapping and sampling programs and collect observations.
• Document structural, geotechnical, groundwater, and ground-condition data.
• Assist with drilling programs, core handling, and sample documentation.
• Perform core logging and maintain organized core records.
• Collaborate with geology, mine operations, engineering, survey, and technical services.
• Contribute to safety planning, pre-shift walks, and risk assessments.
