GTS is seeking an Underground Foreman/Drilling Operator in Kissimmee, FL to oversee directional drilling crews and operate related equipment. You will read job layouts, identify utilities, and ensure maintenance and safe operation of all gear.
The role requires 3–5 years of drilling experience, a valid license, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. Responsibilities include monitoring bore logs, coordinating with team members, and upholding safety standards and regulatory
The Foreman/Drill an Equipment Operator is responsible for the oversight of the operation of crewmen of a multitude of different directional drilling equipment and other equipment required for underground construction.
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. plus 3-5 years of experience operating a direction drill; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
3-5 years of experience as a Directional Drill Locator
Ability to drill in both standard and high-risk areas, such as areas with live utilities
Ability to listen to and implement directions
Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all equipment
Knowledge of Underground Construction practices
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, practices and procedures
Knowledge of reading and interpreting Fiber maps and/or CATV design prints
Technical Skills:
Ability to identify and use the tools required for maintaining and servicing machinery, as well as the ability to diagnose and/or relay any problems to a certified repair technician
Ability to read and interpret construction and engineering plans
Ability to research land and plat information and communicate design prints
Ability to accurately sketch and record field notes and computations field as-builts
Ability to perform and/or instruct entry level skills and practices as required
Soft Skills:
Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions
Effective listening, interacting, and writing skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and driving record meeting the company policy conditions. Class A CDL license is preferred.
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 80 pounds includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather and in the near proximity to vehicular traffic
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Exposure to varying temperatures as work is primarily outside.
Noise levels are moderate to heavy.
Work in different types of terrain including water, sand, and dirt.
Varying degrees of light as work may begin early morning and continue in the evenings and overnight.
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to carry 60-70 1bs, to include an extension ladder.
Must be able to work at 28 feet or higher.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout work shift.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must possess a valid Driver’s License during the term of employment.
Must possess a valid DOT Medical Certificate during the term of employment.
