Job summary

MasTec Utility Services in the United States is seeking an experienced UGE Drill Foreman to lead the crew responsible for underground power line installation and maintenance, reading blueprints, and coordinating daily field tasks to meet project goals.

The role requires at least 3 years of directional drill experience, an OSHA 10, and a valid CDL Class A license. You will supervise the Line team, ensure safety, and collaborate with multiple departments on site.

Job Summary

TheUGE Drill Foremanleads the crew to complete daily tasks related to the construction and maintenance of underground power lines, from plant/station to meter base, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for the distribution of electricity. In addition, they read blueprints of projects and are responsible for production. This position oversees the Line team and works with other personnel from other departments.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• OperatesDirectional Drill for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable.
• Ensuressafety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
• Performsall duties according to prescribed safety procedures and usesappropriate safetyequipment.
• Setupand cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.
• Readsutilitylocatesandcoordinatingday lighting of these facilities.
• Ensuresall applicable permits andlocatesare complete and on site.
• Inspectsthe work that is in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications.
• Operatesconstruction equipment tofacilitatealignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
• Levelearth to final grade specifications.
• Operatesvehicles and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.
• Performsproper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment.
• Leadsteams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor.
• Confirm bore path with installforemanand drill operator (including walking the bore path).
• Perform job site analysis (JSA) including completion of paperwork.
• Ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards.
• Record the depth of the tool head asrequired.
• Ensure the drill head is ina good positionat the exit pit to connect the product.
• Oversee laborers and/or crew member’s work andmonitortime usage.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Highschool diploma, or equivalent.
• OSHA 10 Certification.
• 3 years of Directional Drill experience.
• ValidCDL Class Adriver’s licenseor obtain one within30 daysof employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4or more years ofexperience.
• Experience withdifferent sizeVermeer or Ditch Witch units and various brands oflocatingequipment.
• Working experience of underground construction and Fiber builds.
• City, County and State clearance code knowledge and related.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This joboperatesin a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with liftingrequired. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.Precise hand-eye coordination.Ability toidentifyand distinguish colors.
