Job summary

ITG Communications is seeking a Drill Operator to run HDD equipment for conduit, fiber, and utilities. You will read construction prints, locate underground utilities, and ensure safe, efficient operation on diverse job sites.

The role requires 1–3 years of directional drilling experience, familiarity with HDD equipment, and a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred). You will work outdoors, maintain records, and follow safety protocols in all conditions.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of directional drilling experience or equivalent training.
  • Familiarity with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to read construction plans and understand underground utility locates.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate drilling rigs and support equipment to install underground utilities according to project specifications

  • Read and interpret construction prints, locate utilities, and mark underground services accurately

Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience


  • 1–3 years of directional drilling experience or equivalent training

  • Familiarity with Ditch Witch or Vermeer HDD equipment a plus

  • Ability to read construction plans and understand underground utility locates

  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred


Exposure


  • Internal: Works closely with field crews, foremen, and project managers

  • External: May interact with utility inspectors, subcontractors, and site contacts

  • Frequent work outdoors in varied weather and job site conditions

Physical Requirements


  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs regularly

  • Manual dexterity to operate drilling controls and hand tools

  • Visual acuity for operating and monitoring bore path and tracking systems

  • Tolerance for working around noise, dust, and heavy equipment
