Job summary

Lumbee River EMC in Pembroke, NC seeks a Directional Drilling Technician to create new paths for underground electrical power and fiber optic lines, supporting reliable utility service and safety.

You will perform standby duties for power restoration, drill paths, review staking sheets, operate and maintain drilling equipment, and use vacuum and locating tools to ensure dig-safe work and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 5–8 years horizontal directional drilling operation experience required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow HDD standards and interpret boring plans.

Responsibilities

• Performs standby duties for power restoration during/after normal business hours, holidays and weekends.
• Drill paths for underground infrastructure including electrical lines and fiber optic communication lines and conduit.
• Review and redline staking sheets when there is a deviation from the original plan.
• Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment, locate equipment, and vacuum system.
• Ensure boring does not damage property through observation, gauges, pre/post inspections.
• Utilize vacuum system to remove debris and locate equipment to confirm clear paths.
