Job summary

XKIG is hiring an Underground Groundman in Jacksonville, NC to support construction, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems. You will join a team focused on safety, operate vehicles, and participate in storm restoration while advancing technical and leadership skills.

The role requires physical stamina, willingness to travel, and the ability to work overtime; CDL is preferred and may be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must have Valid Driver’s License.
• Able to read/write and communicate effectively.
• Able to travel long distances at short notice.
• Able to lift an excess 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when required.
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with ability to obtain within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Securing the safety of yourself and others.
• Assisting fellow line-workers to meet project objectives.
• Join storm restoration efforts when needed.
• Operate vehicles and equipment professionally.
• Pursue ongoing training to improve technical and leadership skills.
• Perform safe construction, maintenance or repair work on energized/de-energized underground systems.
• Inspect PPE and understand proper PPE usage.
• Assist in installing transformers, switches, and related components.
• Assist with faulted circuits and high voltage systems with care.
