Job summary

Visionary Communications Inc in Casper, WY is hiring an Outside Plant Underground Construction Locator/Operator to travel within Visionary territories building and maintaining underground fiber optic plant. The role supports the Engineering and Construction Management teams, handling trenching, boring, drops, handholes, and ensuring safety.

CDL is required or can be obtained; candidates must reside in Casper area or relocate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of telecom underground construction experience.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL or ability to obtain CDL.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to pass a drug test and background screen.
• Knowledge of fiber mapping software is a plus.
• Willingness to travel across a large service territory and work outside standard hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery safely under Construction Manager's direction.
• Proficiently operate all requisite equipment to complete the job.
• Create daily production reports, track material use, and maintain as-built maps.
• Coordinate with fleet management to ensure vehicle and machine maintenance.

Job Title: Outside Plant Underground Construction Locator/Operator

Location: Casper, WY (travel to surrounding areas)

Compensation: $30-$37/hour, Final wage will be decided within the posted range commensurate with experience.

Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fill the role of Underground Construction Operator. This full-time position will join the team at Visionary Broadband, one of the top internet service providers in the Rocky Mountain region.

Please note: We are only considering candidates who currently reside in the Casper, WY area (or are willing to relocate to this area).

Job Overview:

The Underground Construction Operator will work closely with Visionary's Engineering and Construction Management teams and travel throughout Visionary territories building and maintaining the underground fiber optic plant. This person will manage the trenching, boring, drop(s) and placing handholes. Visionary is a service provider in varied terrains and with many different types of plant including underground and aerial, as well as fiber to the premise. A successful candidate will have an adaptive and forward-thinking mindset, ability to provide critical in-field feedback, and communicate quickly when decisions must be made.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to work under Construction Manager's direction on construction practices and methods that ensure a safe and productive work environment
• Ability to proficiently operate all requisite machinery safely to ensure the job is completed
• Create daily production reports, material usage sheets, keep track of work hours, complete and maintain accurate "as-built" maps for areas built
• In partnership with Visionary's fleet management team, ensure vehicle and machine maintenance is completed

Qualifications:

A qualified candidate must possess the following skills, or have equivalent experience and/or qualifications:

• 5 or more years of telecom underground construction experience
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record - must have a CDL or be able to obtain a CDL for this role.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Detail oriented
• Ability to pass a drug test and background screen
• Knowledge of fiber mapping software a plus
• Flexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours and be willing to travel throughout a large service territory.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem solving abilities
